Critical issues in the PD testing methodology for XLPE-insulated MV cables: An experimental case

This paper describes some critical issues arising during the partial discharge (PD) testing of a 500m delivery length of an XLPE-insulated MV cable. At first, conventional PD measurements were performed on the whole length by using a standard acquisition system; PDs activity was detected, but the system allowed the operator to localize the PDs only on a length of 70 m. A visual inspection of this section highlighted the presence of an excoriation in the outer sheet. Aiming at a more accurate pin-pointing of the defect, more measurements were carried out in the proximity of the outer defect using a portable PD detection system. Non-volatile main memories (NVMMs) offer a comparable performance to DRAM, while requiring lower static power consumption and enabling higher densities. NVMM therefore can provide opportunities for improving both energy efficiency and costs of main memory. Previous hybrid main memory management approaches for HPC either do not consider the unique characteristics of NVMMs, depend on high profiling costs, or need source code modifications. Abstract Global sensitivity analysis (GSA) enables to gain insight into the functioning of radiative transfer models (RTMs) by identifying the driving input variables of RTM spectral outputs such as reflectance, fluorescence, or radiance. This contribution introduces automated radiative transfer models operator's (ARTMO’s) new GSA toolbox. With the GSA toolbox the majority of ARTMO’s available RTMs can be decomposed into its driving variables. For a selected RTM output, a GSA identifies the most influential and noninfluential input variables according to Sobol' first-order and total-order indices. Moderate resolution sensors provide continuous observations at global scale for monitoring spatial and temporal variations of land surface characteristics. However, the full potential of remote sensing systems is often hampered by poor quality or missing data caused by clouds, aerosols, snow cover, algorithms and instrumentation problems. The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) is a very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) array that comprises millimeter- and submillimeter-wavelength telescopes separated by distances comparable to the diameter of the Earth. At a nominal operating wavelength of ~1.3 mm, EHT angular resolution (λ/D) is ~25 μas, which is sufficient to resolve nearby supermassive black hole candidates on spatial and temporal scales that correspond to their event horizons. With this capability, the EHT scientific goals are to probe general relativistic effects in the strong-field regime and to study accretion and relativistic jet formation near the black hole boundary. This paper presents Geomeasure, a methodological tool developed to recover typometric information with a twofold objective. First, to speed up the process of gathering data by automatizing the way in which it is recovered. Second, it adds higher accuracy and the possibility of re-measuring archeological items without further directly interacting with the piece. In a recent research article, Robinson et al. (2016) described a method of estimating uncertainty of harvesting outcomes by analyzing the historical yield to the associated prediction for a large number of harvest operations.
